Single-Event Coach Status Upgrade Cost
Under Equestrian Canada’s current coach status program, a Registered Coach who needs to coach at an event requiring Licensed Coach Status can purchase a temporary, single-event upgrade rather than upgrading their full status immediately.

-
$55 CAD per event — This is the cost for a Registered Coach to purchase a single-event upgrade to Licensed Coach Status for one sanctioned competition where a Licensed Coach is required.

Notes
-
This temporary upgrade applies only for that specific event—you must purchase it for each event where your Registered status doesn’t meet the requirement.
-
The fee is paid through your My-EC account in advance of the event.

Fine Amount
-
$300 CAD per event for coaching without valid EC Coach Status (as determined by the coach listed on the entry and/or observation by the Organizer/Official).

Note
-
This penalty is part of the 2026 Schedule of Fines & Penalties effective January 1, 2026.
-
In addition to the fine, other consequences may apply (e.g., invalidation of horse/rider points or further disciplinary action) in accordance with the EC rules.
