Rising Stars Youth Dressage

The Rising Star Youth Dressage Program was established in British Columbia in 2015 with a clear mission: to encourage greater youth participation in the sport of dressage. Since its inception, the program has expanded nationwide and is now officially recognized by Equestrian Canada.

The program’s ongoing objective is to foster competence, confidence, and meaningful engagement within the youth dressage community—supporting young riders as they develop both technically and personally in the sport.

Rising Star at QSLB

At QSLB competitions, Rising Star classes are designed to support skill development while maintaining a positive and encouraging competitive environment.

  • The QSLB show organizers will determine which technical test will be used for the Equitation Evaluation at each level (for example, Test 2 at each level, such as First Level Test 2).

  • QSLB shows will use a one-judge system for equitation judging.

  • The class will be designated as the RS Equitation Evaluation class (TOC).

  • Riders will ride the designated technical test for their level; however, scoring will be based solely on equitation, not on the technical marks of the test.

  • The Equitation Judge will be positioned at C.

Eligibility

Riders who are 18 years of age or younger as of December 31, 2026 are automatically eligible to receive Rising Star ribbons, awards, and prizes at the following levels:

  • Training Level

  • First Level

  • Second Level

The Rising Star Youth Dressage Program reflects QSLB’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of dressage athletes by creating structured, supportive, and development-focused competitive opportunities.
